The Canberra Climbers' Association was founded in 1998, but after three years, membership declined and the Club became dormant. In the aftermath of the January 2003 Canberra bush fires the CCA was enthusiastically rejuvenated in response to the closure of many prime climbing areas within the ACT. The CCA membership is steadily growing and in a short time has become a respected body representing climbers' interests. The CCA has been involved in many consultations with Namadgi and Kosciuscko National Parks, and Environment ACT where the CCA is a recognised organisation whose views are sought and appreciated. The CCA also produces 'Runout', a newsletter for its members containing articles and information. The CCA conducts a regular social and slide program where a range of fascinating speakers talk about their climbing experiences from all over Australia and overseas.

The objectives of the CCA are to:

> Promote the image of climbing in the ACT.

> Educate climbers and the public about climbing.

> Foster our local climbing areas.

> Provide social activities for ACT climbers.

> Maintain and ensure access to our crags with the help of local government agencies.

The CCA meets 4 times a year to discuss local issues, have slide shows and generally socialise. The meetings take place at the Yarralumla YMCA sailing club. Check the 'events' section of this site for the next meeting.
